The design brief for this project was to extend this three-bedroom house to a modern feeling home, with open plan living spaces, together with internal reconfiguring to make the first floor work better and add a bedroom and storage within the loft space.

The design solution was to replace the existing poor quality conservatory with single and two-storey extension elements, which delivered the new open plan space to the ground floor, a double bedroom with dressing and en-suite to the first floor and an additional bedroom in the loft space. The existing bathroom was re-planned on the first level to give a lovely family bathroom and airing cupboard.

The design consideration was to keep the ridge of the extension slightly lower than the main house so the extension does not dominate the main house. All the materials, grey flat roof tiles and buff bricks were kept as existing. However, the use of sage green colour cladding added the modern appearance that the client wanted to achieve.
