Our clients wanted to extend this cottage to the rear and re-model & refurbish the existing cottage to create a more open-plan living area on the ground floor together with cupboard space and WC.

The design proposal was to mix tradition with modern features. Hence, we have kept exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace – with a wood-burning stove and a solid wood floor. We have managed to achieve a kitchen with a central island, a large storage cupboard, and room for the essential kitchen table. It also has large bi-fold doors perfect for bringing the outside in on those warm summer days.

Our simple design solution managed to create the open plan and functional kitchen space the client wanted to achieve and it is now the hub of this home. On the first floor, the internal layout was altered to have two bedrooms and a large principal suite. In addition, there is an enclosed garden, detached guest suite, and off-road parking, which makes it a perfect home or ideal weekend retreat.
